The owner of the property commissioned Counterbalance to review the existing layout and suggest improvements to help with home working. This entailed gaining householder planning permission for a 2-storey side extension.
The proposal creates a larger living room along with relocating the kitchen to provide an open-plan cooking and eating space that faces out onto the rear garden. The old kitchen is to be converted into a home office or ground floor bedroom while adding a shower to the existing ground floor WC.
At the first floor a 5th double bedroom has been added along with an en-suite and built-in wardrobe to the master bedroom, creating a large family home with the potential for four double bedrooms and two home office spaces making it ideal for parents working from home.
Planning permission was gained within a short timeframe with no neighbour objections.
