Counterbalance is an architectural studio based in Greenwich,London. Founded by architect Gareth Price in 2021 specialising on residential and housing architecture. The name of the studio represents the belief that successful projects are achieved when all parties involved equally benefit from the process: balancing all interests to an optimal point of equilibrium, where homes are built in sustainable locations, procured quickly, built to a high quality and tailored to meet the unique needs and lifestyles of our clients.

Our free 1-hour design consultation involves visiting your property to discuss your goals, preferences, and budget for a construction or renovation project. During the consultation, we will ask questions about your lifestyle, design preferences, and other factors that may influence the design of the project as well as explain our design and construction process. We can offer initial ideas and suggestions, and provide examples of similar projects to inspire you.

The Royal Institute of British Architect's Plan of Work is a framework that outlines the process and stages involved in the design and construction of a building project and widely used in the UK construction industry. We use the RIBA Plan of Work as a constant point of reference to remind the project team of the core tasks that should be undertaken at any particular stage.
For domestic projects such as house extensions, home improvements and new build houses we typical use stages 1-6. We have produced a helpful guide to explain our process which you can download and read before we meet.
