Gareth Price

Gareth gained his architectural degree from Portsmouth School of Architecture in 2011. Following 2 years in practice, he joined the Sir John Cass School of Art, Architecture and Design where he completed his post-graduate diploma. After another two years in practice, he qualified as an architect from the Bartlett School of Architecture in 2017. During this period he developed an interest and passion for housing design and urban town planning, leading towards a career focused on small and large scale UK based residential projects ranging from single dwellings for private clients to large masterplanning mixed-use developments for national housing developers.

In 2016 he helped create Young Architects and Developers Alliance (YADA) which looks to improve dialogue between young architects and developers in the hope of bridging together what divides us to create a better-built environment.

Counterbalance was founded by Gareth in 2021. It was born out of a desire to improve housing design through research and help brownfield sites prevail over greenfield developments in the south east of England. As an architect-led organisation we see it as our social responsibility to use our skills and knowledge to become part of the solution in providing sustainable housing and helping protect our natural environment whilst improving existing urban settlements.
